The famous ram "Smoky" was supposed to be my Houston Lamb when we paid buck price for him at Joe Harrell's in 1992. I named him Smoky since he was kind of smokey colored... which used to be cool, even in Texas! After taking the first polaroid, dad brought me to tears by telling me he was "special" and should never be cut!! Who knew I would ever be raising sheep again after the original Savage Club Lambs sold out to Barton Club Lambs in 1995? Turns out, I bought some Raider (Smoky son) daughters years ago; so, his bloodlines still run through my flock, ironically... on the same farm!
